Nontraditional lodging has become an increasingly popular travel trend over the past couple years, and among the quirkiest types are small homes and tiny houses. For the uninitiated, these are actually two distinct categories: A small home ranges from 500 to 1,000 square feet, while a tiny house is under 500 square feet. These are the perfect accommodations if you’re traveling solo or with just one other person, as they’re cheaper than hotels and usually have more amenities than hostels.
