Lauren & Jeremy

Our mission for Lauren and Jeremy was clear: find these Las Vegas-natives a home to give their kids the same, happy childhood they had. We found the young couple the perfect ranch-style home, and although the sellers flat-out ignored their first offer (it was too far below the asking price), a second, higher offer sealed the deal. We tore down nearly every wall to create an open floor plan, converted the garage into useable square footage, and completely redid the back patio to give Jeremy and Lauren a beautiful family home that will grow with them as their kids do.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
WIDE OPEN SPACES

Lauren and Jeremy wanted an open ground floor that would allow them to keep their eyes on the kids from almost anywhere. To make this a reality, we knocked down nearly all the walls—and removed the sunken, retro bar that was smack-dab in the middle of the living room—and leveled out the floors to give the kitchen, dining room, and living room a more natural flow. We also added a 20-foot stacking sliding door that lets in tons of natural light and creates a true indoor-outdoor living space. (It collapses all the way in!)

ORGANIZATION IS SEXY

“I might actually cook now!” were the first words out of Lauren’s mouth when she saw her updated kitchen and pantry. With the new dining area and large island, we were able to borrow space from the eat-in kitchen to enlarge the pantry. The resulting oversized butler’s pantry has an additional sink, two wine refrigerators, and plenty of adjustable shelving. Classic white frameless cabinets, contrasting hardware, and quartz countertops throughout the kitchen and pantry keep things beautiful and functional.

MAKE IT CHILD-FRIENDLY, BUT NOT CHILDISH

Another must-have on Lauren and Jeremy’s list? A playroom for the kids. To make this happen, we absorbed the garage into the home’s square footage, essentially making a new room off the kitchen. The goal was to create a space that would grow with the kids—nothing too “theme-y” or juvenile. Boho touches like a hanging chair and handmade flamingos suspended from the ceiling, as well as functional pieces like a sectional couch and cozy ottomans, make the room perfect for kids and grown-ups alike.
