A Room for Romance

After taking care of the kitchen, it was time to do something more honeymoon-ish for Drew and Linda’s house, so we focused on the main suite. We turned a guest bedroom into a sparkling main bathroom, while giving each of them their own spaces to enjoy: a walk-in closet (mostly for Drew), and a craft room (entirely for Linda).

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
FIRE REPLACEMENT

Drew had his heart set on a gas fireplace, but we weren’t able to vent it far enough across the room without adding a massive extra vent to the side of the house. Not to worry, though: we found an electric fireplace that will still keep the room nice and toasty, with a clean profile and a glamorous tile surround.

TILE TIME

Speaking of tile, we framed the centerpiece—the beautiful soaking tub—with black-and-white tile, both on the floor and in the shower, that shimmered in the sunlight. This bathroom has a feature at every turn, and the tile backdrop highlights them all.

FOLLOW THE PATTERNS

There was never really any question if Linda would be getting a craft room; the only question was how colorful it would be! Linda pulled her inspiration from some of the old wallpaper patterns she found in the house, which she turned into prints for pillows. Under those cushions: tons of storage for her many, many crafting tools and projects.
