With three energetic small children, Kylah and John were well overdue for a bigger house—and in order for that to happen, they needed to be able to get top dollar from their current digs. We gave each room a more defined purpose (sitting area, living room, kitchen) and installed unique design features throughout to take this home from builder-grade to grade-A.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
FIRE STONE

First impressions are crucial, so we turned this previously toy-filled front room into an inviting sitting area. The focal point is this beautiful faux stone fireplace—it’s made of crushed limestone and marble, which costs a heck of a lot less than actual marble and looks just as impressive.

IRON SUPPLEMENTS

The original wooden railing was builder-grade and looked dated, even though the house is only about 15 years old. We worked with Art Metal Workshop on this geometric wrought-iron railing that could easily pass as an art installation. The entire hallway, in fact, now looks like it belongs in the 21st century.

COUNTER INTELLIGENCE

We couldn’t be more pleased with this custom creation! It’s one part stone-clad kitchen island, one part walnut table with a waterfall edge. Blending these two elements frees up space for the adjacent living area (and it still offers plenty of seating). We use the phrase “wow factor” a lot, but this feature has it in spades.
