Amanda & Jeff

Amanda, Jeff, and their two young kids live active, sports-filled lives. When they found a house with a massive backyard that gives them plenty of space for a tennis court, wrap-around deck, and space to run around in, it was impossible not to fall in love. But inside, the low ceilings, awkward layout, and dated finishes keep the house from being perfect. We came in and gave the family a light, airy farmhouse that they can play and compete in for years to come.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
STAND TALL

Jeff’s a big guy like us, so we were excited to be able to vault the ceilings. Now, he doesn’t have to duck whenever he takes the stairs. We also replaced the railing to give the place Amanda’s beachy farmhouse style.

LIGHT UP MY LIFE

Before renovations, the living room’s only windows were either dated or currently holding the record for world’s smallest. The family decided to trade their claim to fame for beautiful French doors to their backyard and plenty of natural light.

ORDER UP

By tearing down the wall separating the living room and kitchen, we were able to give Amanda plenty of space to cook without feeling cut off from the rest of family. Best of all, we added a pass-through counter outside the kitchen window, so that on a hot day, thirsty athletes can pick up cool drinks without leaving the backyard.
