A’amna and Ibrahim are an adorable newlywed couple who had lost out on several houses in the hot L.A. market before finally landing their home. They liked the space but were not big fans of the dated interior, which included several mirrors and a kitchen that wasn’t conducive to their love of food and family. We were ready to get these lovebirds into their nest with a full renovation of their entryway, living room, kitchen and dining space, so they could focus on building a new life and family together.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

COLORFUL COOKING AHEAD

A’amna and Ibrahim told us they weren’t afraid of color in the kitchen or throughout the house, so we took them at their word and installed beautiful blue cabinets. We especially love how the recessed lighting plays off the brass accents of the hardware and fixtures over the island.

MANTEL SECRETS

The home’s original layout included a dated fireplace with a very odd mirror above the mantel. We installed a new fireplace that better fit the home’s flow, and made it a standout piece in two ways: a beautiful tiled pattern that everyone will see, and a special woodburned memento on the underside of the mantel from Drew’s wife, Linda, to the happy couple.

TAKE A SEAT

By expanding prep space and seating in the kitchen with a supersized island, we went for a lovely banquette in the dining room. We punctuated the space with a large art piece, one of several we used around the house to tie together the elevated design fit for a young couple beginning a new, exciting chapter.
