Marcie is an Air Force veteran, cancer survivor and was looking for a fresh start for her and teenage daughters Alyssa and Paige when she bought her home over a year ago. Marcie turned to yoga to heal her body and mind and found a supportive community of women in the area that became her family. Marcie loved her rental so much she bought it from the landlord, but it was far from perfect. We overhauled the living room, kitchen, wellness studio, primary bedroom and bathroom to transform the house into the fresh, balanced sanctuary of Marcie’s dreams.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
SPA-LIKE SANCTUARY
Marcie gives so much for others that we wanted to give something back to her: namely, a bathroom sanctuary complete with steam shower and soaking tub. Now, after a day of providing for her community, she can retire to this retreat for renewal and rest.
A STATELY HOME STUDIO
Drew was probably most excited about Marcie’s home studio, having developed one for himself and Linda, as well as on the latest season of Brother Vs. Brother. Our favorite part of this room are the arched inset shelves, which not only provide needed storage, but also evoke of restoration when paired with the colored glass and wooden beams.
NATURALLY DELICIOUS
We carried the natural look of Marcie’s living space into the kitchen with wood tones and dark cabinetry offset with metallics and a simple backsplash. Every room in Marcie’s house should evoke calm, ease and peace—no easy feat in a typically bustling room like the kitchen, but we think it got there. We added a passthrough from the living room so Marcie and Alyssa could focus on family and guests and leave the mess for later.
