Misti & Steve

Misti and Steve needed to find room to raise their four active kids, including a son with accessibility needs, and have enough space to host family. They found the perfect ranch house with plenty of square footage, but the home’s interior needed a complete do-over. We took the (sleigh?) reins and completely transformed the main living area to give Misti, Steve and the kids their best Christmas yet.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

Misti and Steve’s style blended the traditional and modern, in a ranch/farmstyle/industrial aesthetic that would rely a lot on natural looks and materials that gave visual weight — but couldn’t look clunky or outdated. We think we struck the right balance over the dining room table, with a modern fixture literally emerging from a boxed, aged-look ceiling.

MAN(TLE) OF STEEL

Misti and Steve’s family movie nights have an 80s theme, but we weren’t going to let them take an 80s look into their new home — quite the opposite. Instead, we gave Misti’s beloved fireplace and mantle a modern farmhouse feel through steel and metal, and she can still hang Christmas stockings!

ROPED IN

Steve loved industrial accents like beams and rope, so we wanted to create a feature that felt structural, even though it wasn’t. We hung these rough-hewn lumber beams for a standout kitchen that maintained visual consistency from the wood-look luxury vinyl floor to the well-appointed ceiling.
