Jackie & JR

Jackie and JR tried for years to have children and had almost given up when their dream came true and they had two beautiful girls. Now, they needed a home to raise them in! They had just bought a spacious suburban house and called us to make it their Forever Home. We reworked the front entry, living room, dining room, kitchen and family room to give Jackie and JR a bright and cozy transformation that they and their daughters will love for years to come.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
PAPER INVITATION

Even though we were opening everything up in Jackie and JR’s home, we still wanted the rooms to feel distinct and special. The grasscloth wallpaper we installed in the living room achieves that goal by feeling warm and inviting, while also accentuating the new furniture that better fit the space.

FROM SMOKING TO SMOOOOKINNNN’

Jackie and JR’s old fireplace in the living room was huge, and yet tiny. The brickwork jutted out into the room, causing a hazard for kids and adults alike, but the firebox itself limited the gas inserts we could potentially install. Once we chipped away at the bricks—both inside and out—we were able to install this larger gas insert that’s safer, warmer, cleaner, more stylish … it’s just better, ok?

LOOKING LIKE A MIDNIGHT SNACK

“This is the biggest kitchen I’ve ever been in!” Jackie said, and she wasn’t kidding—the new kitchen was huge. During our inspiration tour, Jackie and JR said they wanted the kitchen to still feel welcoming, so we went with black, veined quartz countertops on dark cabinets. The resulting look is clean, sharp and ready to host when family comes over.
