Amy & Kate

Amy and Kate fell in love with a vintage home in an urban neighborhood filled with friends for their young twin boys, Edgar and Hank. But 9 years later some of the charm of their character home has worn off. They agree that if they’re going to stay, the house needs a major update but they can’t agree on exactly what needs to change and how. We overhauled the entry, living room, dining room and kitchen leaving them with a home they’ll both love for years to come.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
NOT A COOKIE CUTTER KITCHEN ISLAND

One of Amy and Kate’s favorite family activities is baking cookies with Edgar and Hank. Because the boys used to stir their batter on the kitchen floor, we gave them a new island that is not only fit for cookie party prep, but is also movable to flex the space for gatherings.

A FRESH OLE FIREPLACE

The living room is the heart of Amy and Kate’s home and family gatherings, and they described the wood burning fireplace as the room’s most important feature. Luckily, we were able to preserve the existing mantel and update the rest with a simple coat of paint and tile to cover some imperfections for a fresh new look.

THE BEST KIND OF CROWDED TABLE

To accommodate for their love of hosting, we created an amazing, open entertaining space with a large dining table and expandable leaves to make room for everyone. The cozy dining banquette not only provides plenty of seating, but also provides tons of extra storage space underneath.
