Becky & Michael

Jump to a section

Becky and Michael wanted to modernize their Las Vegas home in every way, with a focus on storage and practicality for them and their three growing sons. We made major upgrades to the kitchen, adding high-gloss European flat-panel cabinets, a waterfall countertop with bar seating, and a much more functional layout. (Also new: a simply serene breakfast nook for five!) Off the revamped den, we carved out a proper gym where Becky can actually be inspired to ride her stationary bike. And we overhauled the family room by making over the existing fireplace, building out a new mantel, and updating the minibar to match the rest of the stunning space.

Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
A GRAND ENTRANCE

Upon opening their super-modern new front doors, Becky and Michael now receive a warmer welcome—thanks to a little creativity below their feet. We cut into the existing hardwood flooring and replaced it with a crisp white hexagon tile, which allows for a smooth transition into the living room. When you live in a neighborhood that’s a sea of similar-looking homes, you want to stand out with your very first impression.

DRAMATIC DINING

Becky and Michael never used their old dining area but love to entertain, so we gave them a space with both definition and drama. We continued the renovation’s modern theme with a glossy white dining table that echoes the kitchen cabinets and can seat up to ten. Upholstered gray chairs surround the table, making it an inviting, elevated space to gather, eat, and drink with family and friends. Rounding out the facelift for this space are custom treatments for the floor-to-ceiling windows, trendy table settings, and a statement lighting fixture overhead. (If you look closely in the below photo, you’ll see that we duplicated the entryway flooring transition over here.)

A FUNCTIONAL FOCAL POINT

Previously, this family room wasn’t living up to its potential—especially considering how frequently it was used. Becky and Michael needed more storage for game consoles and media equipment, more family photos on display, and more function in general. We created a custom media center and feature wall on a budget, using IKEA cabinets and the existing fireplace, which we freshened up with black paint, white brick tile, and a reclaimed walnut mantel. Not pictured: The backsplash of the bar, where we used the fireplace tile in a different pattern for a little synergy.
