Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
SLATS THE WAY I LIKE IT

At first, we had planned to keep the layout completely open, with glass railing on all sides of the stairs and a furniture piece to break it up. The more we thought about it, we figured Minette would want some sort of privacy between her dining room and the rest of the house. Enter the slat wall: stylish and functional, while maintaining open sight lines. What was a quandary became a feature.

MAKING ROOM FOR FIRESIDE CHATS

Michael’s grandparents had made the front room into an ornate parlor, but we needed a space Minette could enjoy comfortably. We installed two gas fireplace inserts—one in the parlor and the other in the family room—to modernize the spaces and provide Minette with a warm, inviting home.

WINDOWS TO THE WORLD

Michael remembered all the great times in the family room, which had tons of natural light, but needed updates to make the space more functional. We replaced the mountain-side windows with more energy-efficient versions to keep Minette cozy in front of those gorgeous views.
