Before & After

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
A ROOM OF ONE’S OWN

We snuck in a home office for Michelle to give her a space all to herself. Her husband was in on it, filling the room with memories: pictures of her family, her old playbill, even a record player so she could sit and listen to old favorites. We have no doubt this quickly will become Michelle’s favorite room.

KITCHEN CONFIDENCE

Michelle’s previous kitchen was pretty dated, so we opened up the shelving, hid the fridge behind custom cabinetry and provided this peninsula so she could hang out with loved ones. Michelle got so excited about us sitting around the peninsula that she promised to cook us her “specialty” … which she had not quite figured out yet! (Don’t worry, Michelle, we’re happy to come back for free food.)

DINING LIGHT

Michelle’s dining space was a little small, which we quickly remedied by knocking out the wall separating the room from the kitchen. To make the space feel even bigger and more welcoming, we cut out large windows to let in plenty of natural light. And even though lots of light is coming in, we installed double-paned windows so that heat won’t go out on those cold Minnesota nights.
