At Home With Tia Mowry
The actress and lifestyle guru shows us around her favorite room and “the heart” of her home: her kitchen.
Tia Mowry (@tiamowry) is no stranger to hard work—she’s been on TV since she was a tween, memorably starring in Sister, Sister with her real-life twin sister, Tamera.
Today she serves up recipes, parenting tips, and style and home advice on her YouTube series, Quick Fix. She also has a vitamin line, is launching her own cookware this spring, and still pops up on TV (check out Netflix’s Family Reunion).
With all that going on, it makes sense that she’d want the home she shares with her husband, Cory Hardrict, and children, Cree, nine, and Cairo, two, to feel relaxing. That extends to her roomy kitchen.
“I love it for the aesthetics, but also because it’s where we create memories,” she says. With light hardwood floors, semi-open cabinetry, marble countertops, and high-end appliances, it’s warm and inviting and ideal for entertaining.
“Whenever I have guests over, everybody gravitates here,” says Mowry. And while they may come for the eats, they stay for the great company. “There’s a lot going on in the world and sometimes it’s good to escape a little,” she says. “That’s what we do in my kitchen. It’s full of love and laughter.”
1. “I’m like a kid in a candy store when it comes to plates, cookware, and all that kind of stuff because I like to entertain. So I went with open cabinets because I wanted it to be seen.”
2. “If I’m making mac ’n’ cheese or collard greens, instead of carrying the heavy pot from the sink to the stove, I can just pour the water right in from the faucet above the stove.”
3. “As a working mom juggling so many things, I can’t always get all my nutrients from food. My Anser gummies are fun, delicious, and a practical way to get what you need.”
4. “I wanted the kitchen to be warm, comforting, and inviting. A vintage rug is a good way to achieve that. It’s part of the home. It shouldn’t look like a utility room!”
5. “I’m falling in love with charcoal and black, which make things feel contemporary. And that’s also Cory’s aesthetic. The darker color here has his name all over it.”
