Instead of complaining about summer officially being over, we asked stylist Charlotte Jenkins—who works regularly with Drew and Jonathan—for the top women’s fashion trends for fall. She explains how to pull off three looks that will keep you feeling cozy.

01

CASUAL: STATEMENT COATS

An exciting coat is an easy way to freshen up your cold-weather wardrobe, especially if you live in a region with long winters and need to keep things interesting.

How to wear it: Long dusters and wrap coats get an update in tweed…but not the itchy kind your dad wears. Look for one that’s soft, structured, and speaks to you via colorful checks and plaids, black and white houndstooth, or a patchwork motif. For a major fashion statement, try a tweed cape.

02

BUSINESS: WOMEN’S SUITING

Women’s rights, equality, and empowerment have been at the forefront of the national conversation, and it’s inspired a return to women’s power suits for fall.

How to wear it: The ’80s are back in the form of oversize blazers in solids or stripes. A nod to the popular boyfriend blazer, these can be a longer, slouchy silhouette or a cropped, boxy topper with square shoulders. Pair with a matching wide-leg pant for day or suede leggings for night.

03

SOCIAL: METALLICS

Even a touch of sparkle or shine goes a long way in your closet. Treat it like a neutral: Gold and silver go with anything.

How to wear it: Entry-level metallic options include shiny flats, a glossy patent purse, or high-shine jewelry. The next step: Mix metallics with basic wardrobe staples—pair a sequin dress with an army jacket, a slinky metallic blouse with denim, or a glittery skirt with a cashmere sweater or tee. Feeling bold? A head-to-toe shiny lamé disco dress is perfect for an epic party (or awards show).
